Emerging Technology Observatory is a network of professionals working in emerging technologies and their impact on companies, society and governments. Saverio Romeo leads this network. Saverio has long experience in the telecommunications and in the Internet of Things space in different roles, from software developer to technology analyst and innovation policy consultant.

Saverio Romeo – Short Bio

Saverio is Associate Lecturer at Birkbeck College on emerging technologies (IoT, blockchain, and AI) and their impact on innovation and policy. He runs modules for postgraduates and undergraduates on emerging technologies and contribute to research activities on the impact of technologies in business and society.

He supports IoT Analytics as Strategic Adviser supporting their research in the IoT and the impact of emerging technologies for enterprises. He works with different types of organizations (XSure, STL Partners, AREA, IntentHQ, WoW and others) involved in emerging technologies such as blockchain, AI, immersive technologies, 5G and IoT. He is also Lead Expert for the EU Digital Cities Challenge Project supporting the city of L’Aquila in defining its digital transformation strategy.

Previously at Beecham Research, Saverio, as Chief Research Officer, run technology market research in the areas of M2M, Internet of Things, and wearable technologies. Previously, Saverio worked as an M2M/mobile analyst at Frost & Sullivan, telecommunications policy analyst at Technopolis Group and European Commission and as a software developer at DS Group.

He holds three master’s degrees, one in Telecommunications Engineering (University of Naples “Federico II”), one in Information Technologies (“Politecnico di Milano” University – CEFRIEL) and one in Innovation Management and Technology Policy (Birkbeck – University of London). He speaks fluent English; he is native Italian and Galloitalico and he is intermediate in Modern Greek.
